Wrinkle Relaxers

Anti-wrinkle injections or wrinkle relaxers work by relaxing the muscle they are injected into. This treatment consists of small injections of neurotoxin into specific muscle groups. It has undergone rigorous safety testing and should only be prescribed by a doctor.

Areas injected with wrinkle relaxers:

  • Forehead

  • Frown line

  • Crow’s feet

  • Dimpled chin

  • Lip lines (perioral)

  • Jawline/masseter

  • Gummy smile

  • Down turned corners of the mouth

  • Platysmal or neck bands

The effects of this treatment will last between 3-4 months and will require re-treatment for maintenance. There are other medical uses of wrinkle relaxer, one of which is for hyperhidrosis or excess sweating, which Fatima can also perform. The amount of wrinkle relaxer needed will depend on the area being treated and the client and is measured in Units.

A: The injection can sting or pinch but we apply ice to the area prior to the injection to minimise this. This is a very effective way to manage the discomfort and most patients tolerate the injections well.

Q: How long does the treatment take?

A: A usual wrinkle relaxer consultation will be between 15-30 minutes.

Q: Who is unsuitable for this treatment?

A: Wrinkle relaxer treatment is not suitable for pregnant or breast feeding women. This treatment is also not suitable for patients with certain neurological or neuromuscular disorders such as MS, myasthenia Gravis etc.

Q: How quickly does the treatment work?

A: It can take up to 7 days for the treatment to be effective.

Q: Are there any side effects associated with the treatment?

A: Fatima takes every precaution to prevent side effects and complications, however, these can sometimes occur. Dermal Fillers

These are a gel substance that fill areas of volume depletion caused by the ageing process or can be used to augment, contour and enhance facial features. The filler is hydrophilic, which means it attracts water and, therefore, can also be hydrating and works well to improve volume loss.

Areas treated with dermal filler:

  • Lips

  • Cheek

  • Nasolabial folds

  • Marionette lines

  • Chin

  • Temples

  • Jawline

  • Perioral

  • Static lines can also be filled with a soft filler

Filler lasts a varied amount of time dependant on the area being treated and the thickness of the filler. This ranges from 6-18 months. The amount and type of filler used is determined by the area being treated and is individual to each client.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are dermal fillers permanent?

A: No, the filler used is temporary. The effects of the filler will depend on the thickness of the filler.

Q: Will the results be instant?

A: The enhancement is seen straight away but it is important to remember that initially there will be swelling and the true end point can be seen at 4 weeks from the initial injection.

Q: Who is unsuitable for this treatment?

A: Pregnant or breastfeeding women. Anyone with bleeding or clotting disorders. Autoimmune disease.

Q: Are dermal filler injections painful?

A: Everyone is different and as such experience varying levels of discomfort. Some areas of the face also have more nerve endings than others and so the level of discomfort is higher such as the lips and around the mouth. Topical numbing cream is applied for these areas and can be used if needed. Most people tolerate these injections well. The filler also comes premixed with an anaesthetic. If you have any concerns please speak to Fatima prior to your treatment.

Q: What are the risks associated with dermal filler treatment?

A: Fatima takes every precaution to prevent side effects and complications, however, these can sometimes occur. These include but are not limited to; tenderness, swelling, bruising, infection, lumps or firmness in the area of the injection, allergic reaction to the filler, very rare side effect of vascular occlusion and blindness. This is caused by filler being injected directly into a blood vessel.

Dr. Fatima Vindhani is happy to discuss these with you prior to treatment.

Q. WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW PRIOR TO HAVING DERMAL FILLERS?

A: Please follow these simple instructions to ensure you get the best out of your treatment.

Makeup should be removed prior to attendance of dermal filler appointment.

Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen/nurofen, fish oils and multivitamins for 48 hours prior to your treatment as this can increase your risk of bruising.

If you have a past history of cold sores and are having a lip filler or peri-oral (around the mouth) treatment ensure you have taken anti-viral tablets as the treatment can cause reactivation of the virus. If you have an active cold sore, I will be unable to treat you at that time and we will have to rebook.

Please ensure you have no dental work booked 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after.

Please ensure you have no flights planned for 2 weeks after the treatment.

Medical Grade Chemical Peels

This is a liquid exfoliant, which lowers the PH of the skin during the treatment process loosening the top layer of skin cells which will then be shed following the treatment process over a period of time. This will be dependant on the strength of peel used, revealing new glowing skin.

Conditions targeted with peels are, but not limited to:

  • Ageing

  • Sun damage

  • Acne

  • Scarring

Prior to having a peel it is recommended to prepare the skin with active cosmeceuticals for 2 weeks. Multiple treatments are recommended to achieve the best outcome.

Skin Needling

Skin needling therapy also known as percutaneous collagen induction is a therapy whereby very fine medical grade needles are passed over the skin to create microchannels which cause the lower levels of the skin to produce collagen and elastin fibres. Remodelling the skin, which is useful in the treatment of ageing, scarring, pigmentation, mild acne.

This list is not exhaustive. It also resurfaces the skin and improves skin quality and texture. These microchannels also improve the absorption of products through the skin to penetrate the deeper layers and so bespoke combinations of active cosmeceuticals can be delivered during treatment.

Speak to Dr. Fatima Vindhani for a tailored package.

Fatima uses the Dermapen 4, which is the latest revolutionary technology in skin needling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will a topical anaesthetic be used?

A: Whilst the Dermapen4 technology doesn’t require numbing, Patient comfort is important, therefore, numbing cream can be applied for your comfort. Please speak to Dr. Fatima Vindhani about this.

Q: Are there any side effects?

A: Pin point bleeding is expected during the treatment. This will settle following the treatment. Common side effects are redness, sensitive skin, feeling of sunburn, mild bruising and mild peeling of the skin subsequently. Rarely infection can occur and hyper or hypo-pigmentation.

This treatment is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Care should be taken with patients on aspirin or blood thinning medication. This treatment should be avoided on active cystic/pustular acne.

Q: Will I see an immediate result?

A: No. Multiple treatments are recommended for the best outcome. This is determined by the nature of condition being targeted.

Dr_Fatima_Vindhani_Perth_General_Practitioner_GP_Cosmetic_Doctor_Injectables_Platelet_Rich_Plasma_Regeneration.jpg

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP); Autologous Regeneration Treatment

Our plasma contains growth factors and platelets which have rejuvenation potential that stimulates tissue regeneration.

This treatment uses the patient’s own blood which is collected from their arm. This undergoes a preparation process to isolate and separate the plasma which contains platelets from the blood cells. The plasma is then injected superficially into the skin. Local anaesthetic is applied to the area treated to create a numbing affect prior to treatment. A more natural solution to the problem of ageing.

Indications for treatment; ageing and facial rejuvenation, post acne scarring, scars, pigmentation.

Areas that can be treated:

  • Full face

  • Eye area, dark circles

  • Mid face

  • Loose skin and necklace lines on neck

  • Decollatage

  • Back of hands

  • Scalp for hair restoration

This treatment can be combined with Dermapen4 to enhance its affects.
